Fourth-Generation Resident and Village Trustee Pledges to Unite the Community and Embrace Progress

Matt Evans, a fourth-generation Elmsfordian and current Village Trustee, has officially announced his Democratic candidacy for Mayor of the Village of Elmsford in 2025. With a vision for uniting the community and embracing progress, Evans aims to lead Elmsford into a new era of opportunity and growth.

“Elmsford’s diversity isn’t simply our strength—it’s our superpower,” said Matt Evans, candidate for Mayor of Elmsford. “My vision is to harness this unique energy to create a village where innovation meets tradition, where every resident, from our longest-standing families to our newest neighbors, has a voice in shaping our future. Together, we’ll build an Elmsford that doesn’t just grow, but thrives.”

As Mayor, Evans pledges to bring ethical, transparent, and forward-thinking leadership to the village. His platform focuses on initiatives that will allow all residents to prosper, fostering a community that everyone can be proud to call home.

“The Elmsford I know is a powerhouse of potential,” Evans stated. “As Mayor, I’ll bring the dynamic, transparent leadership our village deserves, transforming challenges into opportunities. This isn’t only about the next four years—it’s about laying the foundation for generations to come.”

Evans brings a wealth of experience to his mayoral bid, and has served for more than a decade in various public service roles. He was elected to the Elmsford Board of Education for three terms, most notably serving as Board President, and was instrumental in increasing the graduation rate at Alexander Hamilton High School during his tenure. As a Village Trustee, he has authored resolutions and village laws on critical issues ranging from climate change and sustainability practices to transparency in government. Evans successfully advocated for funding of body cameras for law enforcement, and is currently spearheading initiatives to establish a full recreation department and the development of a comprehensive plan to guide the village’s future decision making. Evans’ deep roots in Elmsford, combined with his diverse professional background, position him as a leader who understands the needs of the village and has the skills to drive positive change.

“I’m inviting the community to be a part of Elmsford’s transformation,” Evans said. “Their voices, dreams, and concerns are the blueprint for our future. Together, we’ll create a place to live that exceeds expectations, becoming a model for what a small village can achieve when united by a bold vision and unwavering commitment.”

The Democratic caucus will be held in January 2025 and the mayoral election will be held on March 18, 2025.
