A poem by Nate Levin
we need a politics of kindness
we need a country of humans, not actors, not consumers, not producers, not owners, not earners, not click-collectors, of voters who decide in their hearts, with their hearts, in communion with all hearts and souls on the earth, fastened on our home orb, looking around and ever around, not up and beyond
we need to swim and float in the complexities of the past and of the present, holding foreign to ourselves no voices that have spoken or are speaking, attending to the state of souls and hearts that gave and give breath to the voices, attuned to all love carried in the voices, and noting but not partaking of any hatefulness that a voice carried or carries
we need a politics of kindness
