Yonkers Honors National Champions -Westchester Untouchables Youth Football

On Dec. 22, Mayor Spano welcomed the Westchester Untouchables youth football team to City Hall to honor them for their National Championship win!

On December 13th, the Westchester Untouchables Youth Football 11U team won the American Youth Football (AYF) D3 National Championship, while the 10U team earned the title of National Runner-Up.

Untouchables Coach Damon Bacote posted, “So we did this thing!! First year head coach of a youth football team. I’ve been helping these boys out since 8u and now to win a national title at 11u as a head coach is unreal. Thanks to the help from the people that always y’all always come through!! The parents came through this week in Florida, and the boys showed out!! Let’s go @westchester_untouchables we bought this one home for the city. ! YO Stand up!!

The two Westchester Untouchables youth football teams, 10 and under and 11 and under, represented the Yonkers-based organization at the tournament for the first time in 10 years!

Westchester Untouchables is a community organization supported by our Project RISE (Respond, Invest, Sustain, Empower) initiative. Project RISE funding supports mentoring, mental health services, restorative practices, community trust building, employment and education support, and youth development activities, among other programs and services that address trauma resulting from long-term exposure to violence, build resilience and strengthen youth, families, and neighborhoods. In addition to Yonkers, Project RISE currently supports programs in Albany, Buffalo, Mount Vernon, Newburgh, Rochester, and Syracuse, and is expanding to three new locations: Hempstead, Troy, and Utica this year.

DCJS engaged with residents and stakeholders in those 10 communities to hear from the ground up about their needs, barriers to access, and challenges they face; and where a $2 million investment in each location would pay the greatest dividends for youth, families, and communities.

Councilwoman Deana Robinson said, “Congratulations to the players, coaches, and everyone involved in this extraordinary accomplishment. This team’s dedication, teamwork, and perseverance are an inspiration to our entire community. Their success not only reflects their hard work but also the support and encouragement of their coaches, families, and supporters.”
