
On June 21, 2026, New York State Police assigned to SP New Rochelle arrested Miguel Perez Mendez, 43, of Bronx, N.Y., for felony drug possession and DWI after he was found asleep in a vehicle along the Thruway in Westchester County.
At approximately 7:15 p.m. on June 21, troopers observed a vehicle parked on the right shoulder of the New York State Thruway (I-95) northbound in the village of Mamaroneck, with the operator and sole occupant, identified as Perez Mendez, asleep in the driver’s seat. During a welfare check of Perez Mendez, troopers administered standardized field sobriety tests, which were indicative of intoxication. He was placed under arrest for DWI.
While conducting an inventory of the vehicle, troopers seized approximately 436.8 grams of cocaine.
Perez Mendez was transported to SP New Rochelle for processing, where he refused to provide a breath sample, and an additional approximately 0.3 grams of cocaine was located. Perez Mendez was charged with the following:
· PL 220.21 (01) Criminal possession of a controlled substance, 1st degree
· PL 220.16 (01) Criminal possession controlled substance, 3rd degree Intent to Sell
· PL 220.03 Criminal possession of a controlled substance, 7th degree
· VTL 1192(3) Driving While Intoxicated, 1st Offense
· VTL 0511 (03A3) Aggravated Unlicensed Operation
Perez Mendez was arraigned in the Mamaroneck Village Court and released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
