The Yonkers Republican City Committee has unanimously chosen longtime civic leader and former Yonkers Republican City Council member John J. Larkin as Yonkers Republican City Committee Chairman. Larkin’s tenure begins immediately.
As Chairman, Larkin pledges to ‘rebuild and renew’ the Yonkers GOP and make it prominent again in the city, New York State’s fourth largest. “The Yonkers Republican party has always enjoyed solid leadership, a loyal base of members citywide and we will build on that to be a force in coming elections,” said Larkin.
He went on to thank Justin Tubiolo, who as former chair “Worked tirelessly for the Yonkers GOP and will continue to do so. I appreciate Justin’s support and look forward to working with him and all members of our party,” said Larkin.
The new chairman is a lifelong Yonkers resident. He rose to prominence for his leadership in civic organizations, notably as president of the Nepera Park-Grey Oaks Neighborhood Association for some two decades beginning in the early 1990’s.
He served as Trustee of the Church of St. Anthony, as a member of the 1st Precinct Community Council, and was active with the Untermyer Performing Arts Council.
Larkin was elected to the Yonkers City Council in 2010, serving as Council Minority Leader 2010-2013, then Majority Leader 2014-2017.

Larkin retired from a career as a Senior Systems Analyst with Verizon. He holds masters degrees in Education and in Human Resources from Lehman and Mercy Colleges respectively. He and his wife Liz are the parents of four children.
