Congratulations to seven members of the Yonkers Montessori Academy Basekteball team, which one the NY State Championship earlier this year, for being named to the All-State team.

After winning Yonkers first state high school sports championship since the 1930’s, the YMA Lady Eagles are primed to have another great season in the fall of 2026 with only Arsela Mustafaj graduating next month. That means the rest of the team, with the experience of playing in high pressure, playoff situations, will be back, including Doherty, who will be in her junior year.
Some of the parents we spoke to at the playoff games told us that there are some special young girls, (8th graders), who are hoping to join Coach Elle’s squad. We hope to interview Coach Elle to find out how he build a basketball dynasty in Yonkers.
