Three Arrested Following Traffic Stop in Mount Vernon; Cocaine, Fraudulent Documents, and U.S. Treasury Check Seized

On August 6, 2026, at approximately 7:06 p.m., members of the New York State Police Troop K Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) conducted a traffic stop near Sanford Boulevard and South 3rd Avenue in the City of Mount Vernon for violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The driver was identified as Christopher J. Mulligan, 32, of Brooklyn, New York. The passengers were identified as Turone J. Bason, 31, of New York, New York, and McKeit L. Christopher, 27, of Mount Vernon, New York.

During the investigation, State Police K-9 Vinn conducted an exterior scan of the vehicle, resulting in a positive alert for the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 71 grams of cocaine, a fraudulent New York State driver’s license, fraudulent Social Security cards, and a corresponding United States Treasury check in the amount of $29,064.59. Members also recovered multiple New York State identification cards and several debit cards bearing various names.

Mulligan, Bason, and Christopher were each arrested and charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Narcotic Drug/With Intent to Sell) – Class B Felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Narcotic Drug) – Class B Felony
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree – Class D Felony
  • Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia – Class A Misdemeanor

All three defendants are being held pending arraignment in the City of Mount Vernon Court.
