Stepinac Senior David Davitt Named Con Edison’s Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to David Davitt, a Senior at Stepinac High School, for being named Con Edison’s Scholar-Athlete of the week. David, from Yonkers, is the Captain of the Stepinac a Track & Field team, running in the 300 Meters, 500 Meters, 600 Meters and the 4 x 400 Meters.

This month  David was selected for the 4 x 400 for Ireland National Team at the World U20 Championships in Peru in August and selected and participated in the Irish Training camp this past week in Ireland .

He also was selected to compete in the Millrose games for the 600 m.This all after winning 600 m last week & having #3 rd best time in Country.

Last month, David David ran the #1 time in the USA  in 500 Meters, winning the Jambar Coaches Hall of Fame invitational 500 at the Armory with a time of 104.17, It was David’s  best time in this event & #1 time in the nation, qualifying him for the nationals.

David was offered scholarships to attend Cornell, West Point, North Carolina and UPenn. David will run track at University of Pennsylvania  next year.

Academically, David has a 98.7 GPA, and has completed 5 AP courses. He has presented to the Law Academy his research on the Opioid crisis in the United States.

David is a member of hte National Honors Society, National Engligh Honor Society, and is Vice-President of the Stepinac Student body.

He serves as a Peer Mentor and student tutor at Stepinac, and volunteers as a youth basketball coach program for Hillcrest basketball.

“David is working to his abilities in the most rigorous high school curriculum in New York State,” said Lisa Capiello, Stepinac School Counselor.
