Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced today that Carlos Bringas, 37, of South Salem, NY, has been convicted on five counts connected to a June 2022 incident in the Town of Lewisboro.
The defendant was convicted on July 24th following a four-day jury trial before Judge John Pappalardo in Lewisboro Town Court of the following charges:
• Assault in the 3rd Degree- Class A misdemeanor
• Resisting Arrest- Class A misdemeanor
• Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree- Class A misdemeanor
• Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree- Class A misdemeanor
• Disorderly Conduct- Violation
On June 6, 2022, Lewisboro police responded to a harassment call involving the defendant at the Vista Wine & Spirits located in the Oakridge Common shopping center in South Salem. Upon questioning, the defendant became disorderly and abusive toward the officers.
While being placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct, the defendant violently resisted and proceeded to kick out the window of a police vehicle, damaging the door. His violent behavior continued later inside the Lewisboro courthouse, where he again fought violently with police.
DA Cacace said: “Mr. Bringas’ rash and violent actions in this incident were unacceptable. This case serves as a great reminder that our office, and our local police departments, will not tolerate this type of behavior. While some may consider these misdemeanor charges lesser offenses, our prosecutors expended tremendous efforts to lay out a clear and detailed case during a four-day trial. I commend their commitment and I thank the Lewisboro Police Department for their service.”

I also want to thank the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office for their exceptional work in presenting the facts and securing justice. The jury’s verdict reaffirms that violent and obstructive behavior toward law enforcement officers will not be tolerated in our community.”
The case was investigated by the Lewisboro Police Department and the New York State Police.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Claudia Neary and Bureau Chief Stephen Ronco of the Northern Westchester Branch.
