Expect “Halloweekends” to be filled with terrifying treachery and dreadful delights!
Treats…or trickery?! This fall, Playland Park will morph from sweet to spooky, becoming Westchester’s most haunted destination as Scared by the Sound returns Friday, October 9. Guests can expect horrifying haunted houses, creepy costumes and terrifying twists as the region’s elite Halloween attraction makes its highly anticipated comeback. Tickets are on sale now!
For the 25th season, guests will experience over 12,000 square feet of nightmare fuel, with the settings scarier and the horrors affrighting. Scared by the Sound will be open Fridays through Sundays in October, with the final three days of the season taking place Thursday, October 29 through Saturday, October 31.
Prefer a treat more than a trick? Kid-friendly matinees will be offered for two days this year, on Saturday and Sunday, October 24 and 25, from noon to 4 p.m., with tame taunts and more lighthearted Halloween lore, including kid-friendly vendors, goody bags and more. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased for a specific time slot.
Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “For 25 years, Scared by the Sound has been part of the Halloween tradition in Westchester, giving generations of families and thrill-seekers a reason to come together and celebrate the season. We’re excited to welcome guests back to Playland this October for another year of scares, surprises and Halloween fun.”
Acting Commissioner of the Westchester County Parks Department William Bland said: “Playland is proud to host Scared by the Sound for its 25th season, giving visitors another way to experience the park and enjoy the Halloween season. Events like this add to Playland’s calendar of unique experiences and let guests enjoy something different from the park’s traditional attractions.”
Scared by the Sound creator Pat Costello said: “Twenty-five years later, we’re still finding new ways to scare our guests, and this year will be no exception. With more than 12,000 square feet of haunted attractions, plenty of surprises and a few tricks around every corner, Scared by the Sound is ready to give Halloween fans a night they won’t forget. And for younger visitors, our daytime matinees offer a fun, family-friendly way to join in the Halloween excitement.”
Tickets range from $29 per person to $40 per person. Parking is $10 per car. The access and drop-off points are at the Fountain Plaza entrance of Playland. The attraction is not recommended for persons under the age of 12, although younger persons are allowed to enter with an adult.
