Remembering Ruth Olyha Swetz

Ruth Olyha Swetz, 101, died peacefully on November 22, 2020. She was born November 8, 1919, to Stephen and Elsa Bauer Olyha in Yonkers, NY and married the late Peter Swetz.


Ruth attended Yonkers Public Schools, Pace Business School of Yonkers, NY Institute of Finance and was a stockbroker at Shearson, Hammill & Co, then worked at CIBA-Geigy.


She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church; Girl Scout Golden Eaglet Order; Women’s Bond Club of New York; Westchester Senior Citizen’s Hall of Fame; Yonkers HS Class of ‘37; Yonkers General Hospital Auxiliary; Hudson River Museum Auxiliary and Friends of Yonkers Public Library.
She is survived by brother William D. Olyha (Hannelore), many nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by her brothers Robert, Raymond and John Olyha.
