Organizers are rolling out the red carpet Nov. 2 for the sixth annual YoFiFest!

“With the support of the City of Yonkers, the festival has grown from its humble beginnings as a local weekend event to an international festival that this year will screen about 150 films over 10 days,” explained Dave Steck, festival co-founder and executive director.

Fellow co-founder and Festival Director Patty Schumann added, “This year, we had more submissions than ever before, so we were able to curate our strongest line-up of films yet.”

The festival will open Friday, Nov. 2 with its traditional red carpet reception, followed by an opening night program of selected shorts and features, and ending the night with an after-party in a nearby lounge.

Saturday and Sunday are filled with screenings of feature films, documentaries, shorts, animation, music videos and experiment work in multiple venues all day. Each day also wraps up with an after-party.

The screenings continue throughout the week during the evenings and again during the day on the following weekend, at both the Atrium Theater at the Riverfront Library, as well as the new screening room at YoFi’s own Digital Media Arts Center.

The festival will once again screen films from all over the world, including Ireland, Australia, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Poland, Turkey, Sweden, Germany, Canada, Norway, Russia and the United Kingdom. It will also feature filmmakers from right in their own backyard, including a “Done In Yonkers” showcase on Monday, Nov. 5, followed by “Westchester Wednesday” and “Local Students” showcases Wednesday, Nov. 6.

The festival’s “mini film school” workshops are back, featuring topics such as screenwriting, crowdfunding, camera tips and tricks, producing new media and shooting in New York, all taught by accomplished industry professionals. There will also be networking events, receptions and nightly parties, where audiences and filmmakers will get the chance to connect and converse.

Honored as one of FilmFreeways “Top 100 Best Reviewed Festivals,” twice voted “Best of Westchester” in Westchester Magazine’s annual poll, and named one of the “Top 10 Things to Do in Yonkers” by The Journal News/LoHud, YoFiFest is curated by award-winning film and television professionals and designed to encourage audiences and filmmakers to watch and talk about movies together.

The festival takes place in downtown Yonkers from Nov. 2 to 11. Information, schedules and tickets are available at YoFiFest.com.
