Election results from Primary day in Yonkers 2026 give us a mixed bag, with democratic party endorsed candidate Frank Jereis winning, see other story, but with Kisha Skipper beating the party’s endorsed candidate Anthony Nicodemo in the democratic primary for county legislator in district 15.

And one democratic primary, for county legislator in district 17, is too close to call with Leslye Oquendo-Thomas just three votes ahead of the party endorsed candidate Wilson Terrero. Mail in ballots and paper/affidavit ballots will have to be counted to determine the winner.

“Today, I am proud to share that unofficial election results show me leading the race for Westchester County Legislator in the 17th District. According to unofficial results, we have won this race by 12 votes. While my opponent has not conceded and may challenge the outcome, we are fully prepared to defend every valid vote and protect the will of the people. This victory belongs to our entire community.

“Throughout this campaign, I had the privilege of meeting countless residents who wanted a representative who would stand up, speak out, and fight for the 17th District. Your encouragement, trust, and support carried us to this moment.

“Thank you to every voter who cast a ballot, every volunteer who knocked on doors and made phone calls, every supporter who donated, shared a post, displayed a lawn sign, or offered words of encouragement. This campaign was powered by people who believe our district deserves strong, accessible, and independent leadership,” said Oquendo-Thomas. The online tally for this race at the Board of Elections says a 12 vote lead, but we have been told that additional ballots will bring it down to 3 votes.

Skipper got 53% of the vote to 47% of the vote for Nicodemo. Skipper will now face republican county legislator James Nolan in November.

I am deeply honored by your trust and look forward to serving the residents of the 17th Legislative District with integrity, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to our community.
