Grow Up Councilwoman Diaz; Is Congressman Bowman for Real?

Grow Up Councilwoman Tasha Diaz

As Mr. Rogers use to say, ‘It’s a beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.’ Well as we go to press, the sun is shining and it’s a beautiful day in Yonkers with temps scheduled to rise to 50 degrees by week’s end. In conversation with a pharmaceutical rep from Long Island at the next table at Panera at Cross County, she said, ‘I always think of Yonkers as this nice, quiet place.’

Well Mayor Mike Spano, I guess you are doing a lot to change the image of Yonkers. You are to be commended for that. People like Councilwoman Tasha Diaz unfortunately are not. Let me start out by saying that Diaz is a hard worker who during her first term including several pandemic years was a strong advocate for her constituents. Then there is the other, foul mouthed Councilwoman Tasha Diaz. She needs to grow up quickly or get the hell out of Yonkers City Hall.

Here are some recent and not so recent comments heard coming from the mouth of Councilwoman Diaz:
Regarding her fellow Councilwoman Corazon Pineda Isaac: ‘I’m going to slice the bitch’s throat.’’I’m going to slit the Councilwoman’s neck.’ ‘I’m going to smack the taste out of her mouth.’

Regarding Pineda Isaac and Councilman John Rubbo: ‘I’m going to F (you know the word) them up.’
To a City Commissioner: She called the Commissioner the ‘C’ word. Sadly, you know the word it refers to
To residents at a meeting regarding extending term limits, she called those in attendance ‘beggars.’
The last comment is a disgusting reference to the people who pay her salary. The second from last comment you don’t make to professional staff members who should have specific qualifications and advanced degrees for their jobs. It, to is disgusting and is a word that is not appropriate to be used by anyone and in this case a Public Official.

The first set of comments and the second comment were appropriately referred to the Commissioner of Human Resources for Yonkers. In addition, because of the life threatening nature of the comments they should be referred to the Police Department and District Attorney of Westchester County.

Councilwoman Diaz, your repeated what some would say are ‘toilet mouth’ comments must stop immediately. I have heard of additional comments that the Councilwoman has made that are inappropriate, and have personally faced a ‘lite’ scorn from the Councilwoman. In the middle of her scorn to me she disappeared and left an aide to defend her. It truly was an insult to me to be in the proverbial boxing ring with a fairly new Yonkers City Council Aide who went on to tell me he knew about ‘things Yonkers’ and that I didn’t.

While Councilwoman Diaz has done many good things for her constituents, her behavior has got to improve. If she doesn’t grow up and address her fellow Councilpersons, City Officials and the public with respect, she has to leave the great chambers of the Yonkers City Council and find other work. Councilpersons in Yonkers do not behave this way, Ms. Diaz!

Is Congressman Bowman for Real?

I use to say it is easy to pen a weekly column on the City of Yonkers because there is always something to write about. I now have to say the same thing about writing a column in the district represented by Congressman Jamaal Bowman, 16th Congressional District in New York State representing all of Yonkers. But first a little something brought to my attention by County Executive, Congressional Candidate and my friend George Latimer.

Bowman on Instagram: New York voters MUST register to vote in a party. I’m not on Instagram, but Latimer who is texted me Monday night, ‘Hey, he read your columns!’ Thanks County Executive Latimer for bringing this to my attention. And Thank You Congressman Bowman for reading my columns!

A quick reminder that if you want to be able to vote against Bowman in a Democratic Primary you have until Valentine’s Day this Wednesday to change your party registration for the June Primary. All the instructions are contained here: https://yonkerstimes.com/how-to-say-goodbye-to-congressman-bowman-on-valentines-day/

So what did we learn about Congressman Bowman this week: According to the New York Post, while a High School Principal Bowman penned conspiracy theories about 911. He claimed that Osama bin Laden, a Saudi native, was “blamed” for the attacks as an excuse to wage war in Afghanistan. The terror leader had openly taken credit for the massacre.

He also reportedly promoted the conspiracy theory movies “Loose Change” and “Zeitgeist” on his blog.“Loose Change” asserted that the US carried out the 9/11 attacks and “Zeitgeist” promoted the suggestion that globalist bankers were behind the tragedy to influence the US to go to war and take on more debt. The movies were a favorite of Infowars host Alex Jones — who served as executive director on the final cut of “Loose Change” — and of Arizona mass shooter Jared Loughner, who injured former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.) and killed a federal judge and five others during a 2011 supermarket rampage. Insults to the families who lost loved ones on 911 and all Americans.

Bowman invited AOC (I don’t have to define who that is I hope) to his campaign kick off last week. She called him an ‘Effective Junior Member of Congress.’ She said Westchester County cannot be bought. No part of the district can be bought. This was an apparent reference to AIPAC and the many other organizations who have raised millions to defeat any Congressional bid by Bowman and encouraged Latimer to challenge him in a Democratic primary. She said Bowman ‘stands up for the working people.’

He voted against the Infrastructure Bill in Congress which would have put many ‘working people’ back to work!

At the same campaign event, Bowman said he was concerned about flooding and infrastructure challenges in his district and put in 3 requests for assistance from the Army Corps of Engineers. So why did he vote against the Infrastructure Bill in Congress bringing billions of dollars to repair the infrastructure including roads with craters, not potholes but craters destroying cars traveling our nation’s roads. That includes the flat tire you just got!

Bowman praised ‘antisemite’ Norman Finkelstein who said Hamas Oct 7 massacre ‘warms every fiber of my soul’

So friends, that’s the Congressman Jamaal Bowman report for this week! Is Congressman Bowman for Real?
