Congratulations to Erik Nadecki, a Senior at Horace Greeley High School, for being named a Con Edison Scholar-Athlete of the week. Nadecki is the captain of the Greeley HS Boys Swimming team, and is undefeated, (14-0), for his senior year individual events.

Recently, Erik competed in two dual meets, earning first place finishes in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke against Clarkstown, along with first place finishes in the 50 Free and 100 Free against Fox Lane/John Jay.

Erik was a 2023 New York State champion in the 400 Freestyle relay, where he set new records for Greeley, Section One, and New York State. He was also all state in the Breaststroke, and 48th in the nation.

As Captain, Erik inspires his teammates and translates the messages from the coaches to his teammates seemingly.

Erik is an Advanced Placement Scholar and will graduate Summa Cum Laude. He is a member of Greeley’s Weather Club, a member of Unified Basketball, and is a volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester.

Erik has committed to attend Brown University and continue his swimming career.

Greeley HS Guidance Counselor Bernadette Kenny said, “Erik has tremendous work ethic and knows how to set goals and achieve them. He is loyal, talented, committed and determined. He has earned himself a 4.0 GPA in a rigorous, college preparatory high school. His teachers describe him as “dependable, hardworking, smart and dependable.”

Coach Margaret Kaplan said, “Erik is a quiet and humble young man who leads by example. He is focused on his individual path to the state championships while also helping his teammates reach their full potential. He is a wonderful ambassador, not only for Greeley, but for Section One and New York State.”
