Dershowitz: Donald Trump is Not Antisemetic, Kayne West Is

Our headline comes from legendary American attorney Alan Dershowitz, regarding recent comments by Kayne West, and by former President Donald Trump.

West posted on Twitter and Instagram threats about Jewish people. He later defended those posts in an interview with Chris Cuomo on his new show on NewsNation. West, know known as Ye, told Cuomo “I don’t believe in the term antisemitic.” “I don’t believe in that term … I classify as Jew also, so I actually can’t be an antisemite.”

Cuomo tried to get Ye to moderate his comments, asking “I know you are intelligent and understand that when you target people because of their faith, other people may do so the same … We don’t want to tolerate that.”

But Ye would have none of it, replying “I don’t have to understand or accept because they’re not willing to understand or accept. That’s the reason why I’m not backing down.”

Dershowitz said “We’re seeing tremendous increases not only in antisemitic acts but in antisemitic attitudes, and it’s coming from young people. And young people are our future. When there’s bigotry against any group, it just permits bigotry against every group,” Dershowitz said.

“It’s very important to understand that these are fringe people that are moving closer and closer to the mainstream. It’s so important to keep them fringe and keep them out of the mainstream and make sure that they don’t have influence on young people,”

“What worries me so much about a great entertainer expressing those kinds of views is that people listen not only to his entertainment, but they listen to his political views, as well. That could have an influence on young people that is hard to combat,” said Dershowitz.

Ye said that he is now planning to buy the failing social media app Parler to give him and others a voice.

Dershowitz added that he does not believe Trump, who has grandchildren who are jewish, is an anti-semite.

Alan Dershowitz: “Virtually every time [Donald Trump] saw me, he would say to me, ‘Alan, how come, you know, the Jews don’t show their admiration for me by voting for me?'”
