SPCA Launches New Community Care Program Making Low-Cost Veterinary Care Even More Affordable

SPCA Westchester is proud to announce the launch of its Community Care Program, the first of its kind in Westchester County.

Through this vital new initiative, the SPCA is making essential veterinary care even more affordable for eligible Westchester County pet owners who receive a form of government assistance. Approved participants will benefit from an additional 50% discount on the already reduced rates for spay/neuter surgeries and routine wellness services offered at SPCA Westchester’s Cody’s Clinic.

“Veterinary care has sadly become unaffordable for so many loving pet parents in our community,” says Shannon Laukhuf, SPCA Westchester’s CEO. “As a result, more animals are being surrendered to shelters or abandoned on the streets, while countless others suffer unnecessarily because they cannot receive even the most basic medical care. Our goal is to ensure that financial hardship doesn’t force families to give up the pets they love, and that every dog and cat has access to the care they need to live a healthy, happy life.”

Eligible Westchester County residents must be able to show proof of residency and one of the following government benefits: nutritional assistance, supplemental social security, disability, housing assistance, family assistance, safety net assistance or medical assistance. To learn more about the SPCA’s Community Care Program and eligibility, residents are encouraged to visit spcawestchester.org/community-care-program or click the menu option on the SPCA’s homepage and choose Clinic. For further details, residents can also call (914) 941-296 ext. 110.
