The advisory council of the Salvation Army Yonkers Citadel Corps held its annual dinner at the Fairways at Dunwoodie on Sept. 27. This year, the Salvation Army honored three Yonkers citizens for their community and public service.

Mayor Mike Spano; Henry Djonbalaj, president of HD Realty; and Yonkers Rising photographer Donna Davis, were recognized by the crowd in attendance and by Captain Luxene Claircius, commanding officer of Yonkers Citadel Corps; and by former Mayor John Spencer, who served as the master of ceremonies.

The Salvation Army Brass performed musical selections, and the guest speakers were Lt. Col. Ricardo Fernandez, division commander of the Greater New York Division; and Commissioner William Bamford, territorial commander of USA Eastern Territory.

The Salvation Army helps and serves others without discrimination, assisting thousands in Yonkers and 25 million Americans annually. Look for the Salvation Army’s red kettles this upcoming holiday season.
