
Xavier Palmer
Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced today that a Yonkers man has pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree, a class B Violent Felony.
Xavier Palmer, 29 years old, pleaded guilty in front of Westchester County Court Judge George Fufidio on June 18. Palmer is scheduled to be sentenced on July 30. His guilty plea was accepted by the Court upon the condition that he will be sentenced to serve a determinate term of 25 years in State Prison and 5 additional years of post-release supervision.
On August 11, 2025, Mount Vernon resident James Hardy, 41 years old, was shot and killed on Cliff Street in Yonkers. An investigation led police to Palmer who was arrested by the Yonkers Police Department shortly after the shooting. A loaded Glock .9mm handgun was recovered by the YPD at the scene of the shooting.
DA Cacace said: “Nothing is more tragic than the senseless killing of another human being. My hopes are that the swift apprehension of this suspect and his expeditious prosecution will bring some sense of closure and peace to the victim’s family.”
The investigation was conducted by the Yonkers Police Department.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Marissa Wynn and Kevin Jones.
