The Westchester Black Women Political Caucus will celebrate its 45th Anniversary with an in person event on October 17 at Castle Royal in Yonkers. The keynote speaker will be State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.
This year’s honorees are:
Greenburgh-White Plains Chapter- Hon. Eddie Mae Barnes, Hon. Alfreda Williams
Mt Vernon Chapter- Diane Atkins, Hon. Ruth Hassell Thompson
New Rochelle Chapter- Jean Anderson, Hon. Pearl Quarles
Peekskill Chapter- Matilda Gilbert-posthumously, Karlene Virgo-posthumously
Yonkers Chapter -Joanne Robinson, Roberta Robinson
As we celebrate this milestone, we pause to reflect on the vision led by the late Alice C. Scott and the late
Joan Mosley, in 1976. The founding members were determined to expose and fulfill pivotal roles for
black women in Westchester County politics. Today, WBWPC is a five-chapter, multi-partisan, political
organization with chapters in Greenburgh-White Plains, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Greater Peekskill
Area and Yonkers.
Our honorees are wonderful, wise, and talented ladies with incredible minds and sound judgment. These
courageous and strong women proudly continue to bear the responsibility to advocate for those who
cannot advocate for themselves.

are ready to face the new challenges it will bring as our organization is guided by our mission of
strengthen our communities through volunteerism, sustainable operations, and the advancement of

We are honored to welcome our Political Associates: Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, Governor Kathy
Hochul, Lt. Governor Brian Benjamin, Congressman Mondaire Jones, Attorney General Leticia James,
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Brooklyn Deputy Borough President Ingrid Lewis Martin,
Westchester County Executive George Latimer, Westchester Deputy County Executive Ken Jenkins.
As we celebrate this momentous occasion, let us recognize not where we have been, but where are going.
