 Nine Local High School Graduates Receive 2026 Michael Frey Scholarships from The Community FundAward Honors Fallen Eastchester Police Officer and Recognizes Positive Community ContributionsBRONXVILLE – JUNE 24, 2026 – Each spring, we invite guidance professionals from Bronxville, Eastchester, and Tuckahoe High Schools to nominate deserving seniors for The Community Fund’s Michael Frey Scholarship. For 30 years, this award has honored P.O. Michael Frey of the Eastchester Police Department who lost his life in the line of duty in 1996. Nine-thousand dollars in scholarships are available in total; each school system allocates $3,000 among qualifying scholars. Please join us in congratulating these nine local graduates who have demonstrated an interest and capacity in giving back to their school communities and our community-at-large. Rocco Briante – Tuckahoe High School – SUNY CortlandA dedicated athlete, Rocco plays both basketball and baseball, demonstrating teamwork, perseverance, and leadership on and off the field. His coaches and peers often speak highly of his work ethic and positive attitude. These qualities translate seamlessly into his academic and personal pursuits. Rocco participates in the Junior Achievement (JA) Club, where he has developed his interest in business and financial literacy, as well as TASC, our after-school program where he supports younger students and helps with school activities. Rocco also works at Lake Isle, a testament to his time management skills, responsibility, and motivation. He is exploring future paths in physical education and finance, two fields that reflect his natural strengths. Amelia Chen – Eastchester High School – Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT)Amelia is a thoughtful and driven student whose leadership, kindness, and quiet confidence consistently uplift those around her. An accomplished researcher, her work in Advanced Science Research led to a publication in the Journal of Emerging Investigators, and she is also a gifted cellist with the Chamber Music Center of New York. As president of the poetry club, athletics editor for the yearbook, and publicist for the ETBE hockey team, she leads with integrity and inspires her peers. Michael “Reid” Craig – Bronxville High School – Case Western Reserve UniversityReid is defined by perseverance, especially after developing “long COVID” in fall 2023. Despite lasting and unpredictable symptoms that forced him to step away from athletics, he maintained strong grades, continued advanced coursework, and stayed engaged in school life. Reid completed the Inspirit AI mentorship program, where he developed a model to detect skin cancers, applying coding skills to real-world challenges. Since his junior year, he volunteered with Gramatan Village helping members navigate technology for which was recognized by the organization. Reid served as Treasurer of the Fuller Center/Habitat for Humanity club and co-taught a web design mini-elective. He plans to major in computer science. Demaree Dixon – Tuckahoe High School – Westchester Community CollegeDemaree has been an active supporter of school fundraising efforts, regularly preparing baked goods for sales that help raise money for school programs. In addition to his contributions behind the scenes, Demaree proudly served as the school mascot, bringing energy and pride to our community. Demaree is known for his enthusiasm for the Metro-North Railroad, with a deep interest in train routes, conductors, and the many towns along the lines — he often rides the trains simply for the experience. Sofia Doherty – Tuckahoe High School – University of WisconsinSofia is not only academically driven but also highly engaged in extracurricular activities. She is a talented and dedicated athlete, balancing both lacrosse and cross-country with grace and determination. She co-founded our school’s business club, taking the initiative to create an opportunity for students to develop financial and entrepreneurial skills. She recognizes a need, takes action, and inspires others to follow. Sofia actively participates in the youth ministry and donates her time to Habitat for Humanity and the Challengers Club. Sofia forms meaningful relationships with peers, teachers, and community members alike. She is a natural leader; people are drawn to her positivity, kindness, and ability to bring people together. Analeigh Falcon – Bronxville High School – University of ConnecticutNew to Bronxville in 9th grade, Analeigh made a place for herself as a kind, mature member of our community. She is particularly interested in art and has excelled in that subject. Annie McLoughlin – Eastchester High School – Virginia TechA valued member of the National Honor Society, Annie and two fellow students led the charge to start a Women’s Empowerment Club at the high school. She was captain of the Varsity Cheerleading team for the past two years and has always maintained positive relationships with peers. Chihoko Saito – Eastchester High School – Brown UniversityChihoko has volunteered at Hope’s Door Women’s Shelter for the past two years. She has also tutored over 40 students in piano, flute, science, math, history, and English, and interned for a county court judge. Vladimir Sanchez – Bronxville High School – SUNY Stony Brook Vladimir is polite, kind, caring, and has a great sense of humor. He is well-liked among his peers and respected by the school staff. One way Vladimir has positively impacted the community is by working as a lifeguard the past couple of years – he loves interacting and helping people as much as he can. As a member of the Fuller Center Club at Bronxville, he has helped rebuild homes in the local community. Vladimir has been a positive representation of our school in the community in the classroom, on the athletic fields, and through service he has provided to neighboring towns. Congratulations to all!
