Money Makes the World Go Around

  By Eric Wolf  Schoen

Our country is so divided politically right now, it’s hard to tell the Democrats from the Republicans or the Conservatives from the liberals.

People are realizing they have to do something other than stand on the street corner holding up a sign expressing their wishes to their neighbors or driving a golf cart around  the course splattered with signs Letting fellow Floridian or California golfers know the their take on the world today.

Yes it’s time to use the mighty power of the dollar bill to let friends and countrymen know their feelings about the issues that matter to you. Bottom line: Money makes world go around, and without it it’s hard to survive.

Do you realize how many merchants large and small make donations to candidates we may not agree with. Frorida grocer Publix donated $570,000 to Republicans versus
Almost $200,000 going to Democrats.  New York grocer Gristedes gave a measly $79 to Democrats with thousands going to Republicans.

Large donations to Republicans came from companies including Ace Hardware to George Foreman Grills (how topical! ) and GNC (General Nutrition Cvompany) to GMC (General Motors Company.) The diversity of companies show that they all want a piece of the action.

Democrats also received large donations from some of America’s biggest companies including Microsoft, Warner Brothers, George Soros and more. Are these companies in love with these candidates? No. But they are looking to influence government in the specific fields through fields they.

So what should we as consumers do if we don’t want the dollars we give going to causes or people that we don’t support. Plenty of resources online that tell you what you want to know about the political family and where your money is headed for.

We all like a big macs, fries and an Ice Cream Cone. So it’s ok to cheat once in a while. But make sure you talk to the store message through it you are unhappy with companies they support!
