Mamaroneck Police Charge Man with Using Counterfeit $100 Bills

VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK POLICE CHARGE INDIVIDUAL WITH USING COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY

The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department announces the arrest of Osman Daramy, a 25-year-old male from Staten Island. The arrest follows an investigation into the use of several counterfeit $100 bills at local businesses throughout the Village of Mamaroneck on January 18, 2026.

Details of the Incident and Arrest:

  • Apprehension: On January 22, 2026, Detectives apprehended Mr. Daramy in Staten Island, New York, without incident.
  • Charges: He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree (a class C Felony) and Petit Larceny (a class A Misdemeanor).
  • Other Jurisdictions: Further investigation linked Mr. Daramy to similar crimes in Harrison, NY. The Harrison Police Department collaborated on the case and filed additional criminal charges.
  • Status: Mr. Daramy was arraigned in Village Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 29, 2026.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
