GIRL SCOUTS ARE IN MOUNT VERNON — AND THEY’RE LOOKING FOR GIRLS TO JOIN!
Many Mount Vernon parents may not even realize that Girl Scouts has a local presence in our community.
Jessica Hancock, a Girl Scout leader here in Mount Vernon, is inviting families to come out this Saturday on the 19th to learn more about Girl Scouts, meet the leaders, ask questions and find out how their daughters can get involved.
And there’s an important message for parents who may be concerned about the cost:
The Girl Scouts membership fee is $65 for the 10-month year, but Jessica says financial assistance is available for families who need it. Parents who cannot afford the membership fee can complete financial-aid paperwork, and their daughter’s membership can be completely FREE.
“If the parents can’t afford it, their daughter will be absolutely free. No worries. We are here for the girls.”
The upcoming Saturday event is completely FREE and is designed to provide information and allow families to learn what Girl Scouts is all about before deciding whether they want to sign up.
There will also be lunch and light refreshments for families attending.
Jessica says this will be the third year of the local Girl Scout program, with the goal of giving Mount Vernon girls opportunities to learn, grow, build friendships, develop leadership skills and become more involved in their community.
MVNC encourages Mount Vernon parents to share this post with other families. Someone in our community may have a daughter who would love Girl Scouts but simply didn’t know the opportunity was here.
