On this blustery day, in front of the Richard J. Daronco County Courthouse and over 100 supporters, long-serving former Westchester County Court Judge Susan Cacace formally announced her candidacy for the position of Westchester County District Attorney.
“From protecting the most vulnerable in our society from domestic violence and child and elder abuse, to holding our government officials to the highest standards, to eliminating political corruption on all levels, to prosecuting the most heinous of crimes, sex crimes and homicides, every case will be given the attention it requires under my leadership and at the capable hands of the outstanding people who I will bring to serve in the Westchester DA’s office,” Cacace said.
Cacace has worked for over 30 years as a prosecutor, defense attorney, and judge in Westchester, with nearly 15 years serving in the Westchester DA’s office and nearly 20 years serving as a Westchester County Court Judge. She resigned from that position, as the currently longest serving County Court Judge earlier this month to dedicate herself entirely to this endeavor. The Democratic Primary will be on June 25th, 2024.
Cacace joins an already crowded field of democrats seeking to replace Westchester DA Mimi Rocah, who announced that she would not be seeking reelection. Other candidates include:
Adeel Mirza, a former prosecutor in the Westchester DA’s office, William Wagstaff a civil rights attorney,
Sheralyn Pulver Goodman who works in the Westchester Independent Office of Assigned Counsel, and David Szuchman, a former Manhattan ADA who now works for Paypal.
