Flag Day Celebrated at 1720 Jacob Purdy House

From Congressman George Latimer: On June 14, I celebrated Flag Day at the 1720 Jacob Purdy House. This historical site once served as General George Washington’s Headquarters during the Revolutionary War, and I was honored to attend their annual program, which included a presentation by Jennie Steinhagen portraying colonial Westchester matron Phebe Ward.

The Jacob Purdy House serves as a symbol of the role Westchester played in the Revolution and the significance our community holds in our country’s history. I thank the White Plains Historical Society for continuing to share the incredible story of the Jacob Purdy House and for preserving the history that shaped our independence.
