Yorktown HS SAIL Program Makes Donation to Yorktown Food Pantry

Yorktown High School’s SAIL program recently made another generous donation to the Yorktown Food Pantry, continuing a partnership that began last school year.

Under the leadership of Ms. Livermore, students collect used toner cartridges from YHS and recycle them at Staples, earning points that can eventually be used to purchase items for donation. Students also collect and recycle many of the water bottles used at YHS, with those proceeds contributing to future donations.

As part of their community-based instruction, students review supermarket advertisements to identify sales, work within a budget, and purchase items requested by the Yorktown Food Pantry. For this donation, students purchased five boxes of pasta, seven cans of tuna, two jars of tomato sauce, and three boxes of cereal.

The SAIL program plans to make one or two additional donations to the Yorktown Food Pantry this school year. Great job!
