After a big Week 1 win in the Yonkers Guardians varsity football team’s inaugural season, the Guardians lost to Scarsdale High School 40-14 in week 2.
The Guardians were shut out in the first half and were losing 33-0 at halftime. The Guardians scored 14 points in the second half.
The bright spot for the Guardians was QB Brendan Mulvihill, who went 14-for-20 passing for 236 yards and a touchdown. Mulvihill also rushed for 99 yards, for 335 total yards.
This was Scarsdale’s first game of the year, so it’s unclear how good they are. But this was a tough loss for the Guardians in a conference game.
The Guardians will host White Plains High School on Sept. 19 at Roosevelt High School.
