City of Rye Police Department Announces Arrest Following Investigation

The City of Rye Police Department announces the arrest of Manuel Lazala, 24, of Port Chester, New York, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, following a month-long investigation by the Detective Bureau.

Lazala was charged with two counts of Penal Law section 260.10(1) Endangering the Welfare of a Child and two counts of Penal Law section 130.55 Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree stemming from an incident involving a juvenile at Rye Town Park.

Lazala was processed at Rye Police Department Headquarters, arraigned, and transported to the Westchester County Jail. He is scheduled to return to Rye City Court on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Due to the nature of the incident and to protect the privacy of the juvenile involved, no further information will be released at this time.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
