To Yonkers Rising and Yonkerstimes.com
I appreciate your coverage of Yonkers, and read your stuff a lot. I was heartbroken to read about the shooting death of Brandon Garcia by a 15-year old in Yonkers recently.
I have friends who know the Garcia family, and nobody deserves this kind of tragedy in their lives.
In your stories, you printed a photo of Brandon and you also provided the GoFundMe page. I appreciate that.
But I would ask if you would also print a story with the GoFundMe story from the family. It would mean a lot to them, they could use the help.
Sincerely, Rebecca Perez

Our family is going through an unimaginable loss right now. Many of you may have already seen the news that five people were shot, and tragically, my nephew, Brandon Garcia, lost his life. Brandon was only 20 years old and had his whole life ahead of him. He was full of love, laughter, and so much potential. Our hearts are completely broken. While we find comfort in believing that Brandon is now in the arms of his Creator, the pain of losing him is overwhelming. No parent or family should ever have to bury a 20-year-old loved one.
We are also praying for the other four victims who remain hospitalized and fighting to recover. We pray they are able to return home safely to their families. During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking for support. Any donations will go toward Brandon’s funeral expenses and the medical bills associated with this tragic event. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease some of the financial burden on the family during this devastating time. If you are unable to donate, we completely understand. Your prayers, kind words, and support mean just as much to us. Please keep Brandon, his parents, and our entire family in your thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace, Brandon Garcia. You will always be loved and never forgotten.
