Although often overlooked or ignored, the American Revolution hinged on the labor and efforts of women of all backgrounds. In this engaging illustrated talk, Yonkers City Historian Mary Hoar traces the lives of Revolutionary era women in Westchester County and beyond.

Speaker Bio:

Mary Hoar is the Yonkers City Historian and a lifelong educator. She is the President of the Untermyer Performing Arts Council, president emerita of the Yonkers Historical Society, serves on the City of Yonkers Landmarks Preservation Board, is a member of the Revolutionary Yonkers 250 committee, and is a board member of American Irish Association of Westchester, the Aquehung Women’s Democratic Club, and many other organizations. She also writes a weekly column on local history for Yonkers Rising newspaper.
