The New York Power Authority (NYPA) and New York Transco are hosting Community Information Sessions to share information about Propel NY Energy, an innovative underground electric transmission project.
Propel NY Energy will bolster the reliability, resiliency, and capacity of the downstate grid through the delivery of energy resources on Long Island, and in parts of New York City, and Westchester County. This project includes the installation of approximately 90 miles of new underground and submarine transmission lines, and new and upgraded electrical stations carefully routed to minimize impacts to surrounding communities and the environment. This multi-year project, scheduled to be in service by 2030, will result in long-term benefits for New York homes and businesses as the demand for electrical power continues to increase now and into the future.
