Fourth Nomination Since 2024

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano today announced Yonkers City Hall TV received a prestigious New York Emmy Award nomination in the category of Military News. It is the station’s fourth nomination since entering the competition in 2024.
“Recognition like this reinforces the importance of sharing the stories that define our community,” said Mayor Mike Spano. “Honoring a 100-year-old World War II veteran and preserving his firsthand account ensures that the legacy of Yonkers’ hometown heroes will continue to inspire generations to come.”
The nominated piece, Yonkers Hometown Hero, shares the remarkable story of Carelton Davies, a 100-year-old U.S. Navy veteran and Yonkers resident whose courage and service during World War II stand as a testament to an entire generation’s sacrifice.
All productions can be viewed on Yonkers City Hall TV Channel 78 on Optimum, Channel 39 on Verizon, www.yonkersny.gov, the City of Yonkers’ social media platforms along with Mayor Mike Spano’s YouTube channel. The City of Yonkers also operates the Yonkers Public Schools’ Board of Education Channel 75.
Previous nominations have included Public Affairs Series, Your Yonkers Now and Interactive Media for Yonkers Pizza Madness.
The New York Emmys are part of the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 10 in New York City.
