Helps Expand Surgical and Cardiac PACU
The Adam R. Rose and Peter R. McQuillan Post Anesthesia Care Unit will enhance the hospital’s advanced surgical services
Cross River residents Adam R. Rose and Peter R. McQuillan, pictured above, named a new post anesthesia care unit (PACU) at Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH), part of Northwell Health. Called the Adam R. Rose and Peter R. McQuillan Post Anesthesia Care Unit in honor of their $500,000 gift, the new unit will support the hospital’s advanced surgical services, as well as cardiac procedures performed at its Seema Boesky Heart Center.
The new PACU accommodates a wide array of post-surgical patients, including those recovering from neurosurgical, orthopedic, bariatric, and thoracic surgeries, as well as advanced cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures. The PACU will connect to the existing PACU and include: 13 additional recovery bays; a new operating room control room; an isolation room; two new nurse workstations; supply, storage and medication rooms; and ancillary support areas. “Adam and Peter are well-known in our community for their extensive philanthropy,” said Derek Anderson, MPH, FACHE, executive director of the hospital. “We are grateful and humbled by their support and interest in expanding surgical services, which offers advanced healthcare, close to home. This gift and their engagement in our community inspires us and others to invest locally.”
The couple is already celebrated for creating and donating the AP Farm Athletic Fields to the Katonah-Lewisboro School District and they also have made significant donations to the Westchester Land Trust, the Lewisboro Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Lewisboro Library, the Jacob Burns Film Center, Jazz Forum Arts, the New York Botanical Garden and more. Adam is a retired residential real estate developer and Peter is a retired sergeant with the New York City Police Department.
Their other activities include funding jazz, collecting art and auditing classes at Yale University where Adam serves on the Board of the Yale Art Gallery. He is also a Trustee of the New York City Police Foundation as well as the National Policing Institute. “We have dedicated ourselves to improving the community in which we have lived for over three decades,” said Mr. Rose, “Peter and I consider Northern Westchester Hospital to be one of the most significant local partners in helping this part of the county grow and improve. By supporting this expansion, advanced medical and surgical procedures can take place locally, saving our community the expense and stress of obtaining these treatments further south.”
