State Police Arrest Three for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in Peekskill

On August 16, 2026, at approximately 1:31 a.m., New York State Police in Cortlandt conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Main Street in the City of Peekskill for violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The operator was identified as Antonio Stewart, 40, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The passengers were identified as Khwan Wooden, 41, and Brant Schepper, 36, both of Peekskill, New York.

During an inventory of the vehicle prior to it being impounded, Troopers located a loaded Smith & Wesson handgun.

Stewart, Wooden, and Schepper were arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony.

All three were arraigned in Westchester County Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, $20,000 bond, or a $30,000 partially secured bond. They are scheduled to appear in the City of Peekskill Court on August 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
