Help NYS Police Catch the Criminal Who Threw a Brick Through Somers Barracks

NYS Police used a helicopter to try and find the person who threw a brick through the Somers barracks

In a brazen and foolish act of vandalism, on Feb. 25, a person on an ATV threw a brick through the window of the NYS Police barracks in Somers, NY. We are highlighting this incident in the hopes that someone will come forward who has any knowledge about who did this and why.

Fortunately, no one was injured as the large plate glass window shattered, but if a trooper or other person was injured, the charges would be more serious that criminal mischief.

State police conducted a large search for the person on the ATV immediately after the incident, but to no avail. That search inclued the use of police helicopter, which was used to search some of the more wooded areas of Somers that surround the trooper barracks.

The investigation remains ongoing and no further comment from the NYS Police at this time. Several Somers residents we spoke to said that they saw the helicopter flying low on the date of this incident.

“I’m disappointed in whoever did this to our state police. We support our law enforcement and first responders in Somers, whoever thought this was a good ideas, or had an axe to grind with police, shame on you,” said Deanne Capellini.

Another resident said, “Now anyone driving around in an ATV is going to be suspected of this, which is wrong, but that’s the way it goes. Right now the only identifying characteristic from this incident is the person on the ATV. And I haven’t seen anyone riding once since around here,” said Eugene Bahrein.

Possible leads could include a review of ATV owners and operators in the area. Anyone with information on this incident should contact the NYS Police Somers at 914-234-9292.
