No Parade, But Columbus Day Events Continue in Yonkers

While the Yonkers Columbus Day Parade did not happen in 2021, several events were held to commemorate what is still a big holiday in Yonkers. The colors of the Italian flag were painted along Midland Avenue, which is the part of the route for the parade.

The Italian Flag was raised above Yonkers City Hall on Oct. 17. The MC was Councilman John Rubbo, and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by former Councilman Michael Sabatino. Prayer was offered by Mario Reda. Mayor Mike Spano and Councilman Anthony Merante gave remarks and coffee and desert was provided by Silvio’s

Yonkers City Council members Tasha Diaz and Council President Mike Khader in addition to Councilmembers Rubbo and Merante.

County Legislators: David Tubiolo, Ruth Walker and Assemblymember Nader Sayegh.

City Judges: Dan Romano, Verris Shako and Elena Goldberg-Velasquez.
