Dr. Paul Giacopelli
Putnam County Sheriff Kevin J. McConville reports the arrest of a Southeast man for a series of sexual assault incidents that took place in the last month.
On December 29, 2023, Sheriff’s Investigators were alerted to the fact that a female victim, who was known to the suspect, had been given anesthesia without her knowledge and was subsequently sexually assaulted. Through interviews with the victim, it was learned that the suspect was an Anesthesiologist with access to various drugs.
On December 30th, Investigators interviewed and arrested 59-year-old Paul M. Giacopelli for 4 counts of Sexual Abuse in the 1st degree and Assault in the 2nd degree, both felonies.
He was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $150,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond.
