UPS Makes Special Delivery to Yonkers

UPS has moved into 555 Tuckahoe Road, with holiday jobs available for those interested.

New Facility Coming to Tuckahoe Road

Leading package delivery company UPS will open a new facility at 555 Tuckahoe Road, Yonkers, announced Mayor Mike Spano last week.

Spano was joined by UPS President of the North Atlantic District Brian Cannon for the announcement, along with other local officials, as the company prepares to start its Yonkers operation next month.

“Yonkers welcomes UPS to its newest hub in the region,” said Spano. “Yonkers serves as an ideal location and center for their world-class services and operations. We are especially excited as UPS soon will bring hundreds of jobs to local and area residents, contributing to our growing economy.”

The new UPS Yonkers package operation initially brings more than 150 full- and part-time jobs to the area. UPS is now hiring for seasonal employees to support the busy holiday shopping and shipping season, including more than 11,000 jobs in New York and New Jersey, at 38 locations throughout the tri-state including150 jobs in Yonkers.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of the economic growth of the city, and bring more good-paying full- and part-time jobs to Yonkers and Westchester County,” said Brian Cannon. “Thank you to the City of Yonkers for their support of this new UPS facility. We look forward to being an active part of this community.”

The 435,000-square-foot sortation and distribution center adds more package processing power to support the growing demand of businesses and residential customers in Yonkers, Westchester County and across the state. The new facility is scheduled to open to support the busy holiday shopping and shipping season.

UPS’ move to its new Yonkers facility is part of more than $3 billion worth of private investment in the city’s economic development since 2012.

Earlier this year, POP Display moved its manufacturing plant out of 555 Tuckahoe Road and relocated to Georgia. The fact that this space was occupied quickly by UPS points to the interest that many businesses have in relocating to Yonkers. Fed Ex built a distribution center, also on Tuckahoe Road, in 2016.
