YONKERS WOMAN ARRESTED ON NUMEROUS CHARGES OF GRAND LARCENY

Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced the arrest of a Yonkers woman on ten counts of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and one count of Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree.

Norma Tirado, 52 years old, was arraigned today in Yonkers City Court by Judge Karen Best. Tirado was released on her own recognizance. She is due back in court on May 20.

The charges stem from Tirado allegedly accepting thousands of dollars each from at least ten separate victims in exchange for finding them either Section 8, rent controlled or low-income housing. Allegedly, Tirado never fulfilled the victim’s requests for housing despite accepting more than $60,000 in total.

DA Cacace said: “Our office remains committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community. In this case, the defendant’s predatory scheme took advantage of hard-working people simply trying to find a place for their families to live. This reprehensible behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

This investigation was handled by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office Criminal Investigators.
This case is being prosecuted by ADA Sheila Horgan of the Public & Law Enforcement Integrity Bureau.
