The City of Yonkers commemorated the 17th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 with ceremonies at the Yonkers waterfront memorial and at Conor Park. Twenty-six Yonkers residents were lost on that day, and their names are on the plaque which is pictured in this paper.
At the 9/11 memorial on the banks of the Hudson River at Water Grant Street, a morning service and tribute was held, which included remarks by Mayor Mike Spano, and other elected officials.
The evening ceremony at Conor Park was where the city dedicated a monument derived
from a 38-foot, 4,000-pound piece of World Trade Center steel.Yonkers firefighters and
