Yonkers Police Officer Nicole Molinaro Featured for Women’s History Month

Today, we’re highlighting Police Officer Nicole Molinaro, who plays an incredibly important role in the YPD.

-Tell us a little about yourself:
I grew up in Mount Vernon, NY, before moving to Yonkers, NY. I attended the College of Mount Saint Vincent and Manhattan College. I played basketball from as early as I could join a team until I reached college. I enjoy a very active lifestyle that includes kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, camping, and indoor rock climbing.

-What made you want to become a Police Officer? Why Yonkers?
It’s as simple as, I wanted to help people. As Police Officers, we are given the opportunity to help solve people’s problems each and every day. It’s a good feeling when you can help someone in that way. And Yonkers, because, there’s nowhere like Yonkers PD!

-Where have you worked in the YPD, and what is your current assignment?
I worked as a patrol officer in the Second Precinct for the majority of my time here. Currently, I am the Coordinator of the YPD Members Assistance Program and Peer Team Lead. I also serve as the Vice President of the Yonkers Women in Law Enforcement. What I love most about my current role is being able to help our Officers achieve overall wellness and promote mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health so that they can live a healthy life—both on and off the job.

-Do you have any advice for young women in Yonkers?
Surround yourself with those who inspire you to be a better version of yourself each and every day. As women, it’s easy to compare ourselves to others. Choose friends who support you, challenge you, motivate you, and congratulate you. We’re much stronger together.
