
At approximately 10:17am this morning, Yonkers Police Officers began actively pursuing a suspect vehicle from a carjacking. This vehicle pursuit led Officers into the Bronx, at which point the suspect, who was traveling the wrong way on a Mosholu Parkway exit ramp, collided head-on with a marked Yonkers Police vehicle.
As Yonkers PD Officers attempted to apprehend the suspect after the collision, he drove directly at a uniformed Officer who was outside of his vehicle, at which point the Officer fired several shots at the suspect, who then fled the scene.
The Officer involved suffered injuries related to the motor vehicle accident, and is in stable condition. No Officers were struck by gunfire. There were no civilian injuries reported during this incident.
Officers from several jurisdictions are still attempting to locate the suspect. More information may be released as it becomes available.
