The Yonkers High School Varsity Cheerleaders returned for the 2021/2022 Winter Cheer season lead by Coach Jessica Macdonald and Coach Kevin Macdonald. Coach Jessica and Coach Kevin praised the team for all their efforts, sacrifices, and hard work especially with the difficult scheduling conflicts that arose resulting in limited practices in the gym.
The teams hard work paid off, as they were able to compete competitively as well as placing 2nd at the Westchester County Invitational and earning an invite to the State’s sectionals. For the first time in all of Yonkers Public Schools’ history, senior and team Captain Arianna Cambeiro made the Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland Cheerleading Coach’s Association All League Team. She was also the recipient of their Tier 2 scholarship award and the entire team earned the NYSPHSAA scholar athlete award.
Congratulations to Arianna and the entire YHS Varisty Cheerleaders for giving Yonkers something to cheer about!
