Westchester Native Joins Globetrotters–Slam Dunk Video with Dog Goes Viral

Max Pearce with his Dog Koa

Congratulations to Tuckahoe native Max Pearce, who has joined the legendary Harlem Globetrotters basketball team.

Pearce, who recently graduated from SUNY Purchase, sent out a video showing his dog Max giving him a pass that ends up in a dunk. The video has gone viral and made not only the local CBS news and News 12, but was on ESPN’s Sportcenter Top Ten and on the Huffington Post.

“I am so excited to announce this news,” said Pearce. “This is a dream come true for me.”

Pearce, at 6 feet tall, can jump higher than most ballers taller than him, and proved it last year at the Slam Dunk Championships at the Final Four in San Antonio, Texas.

“The Globetrotters are the largest and most successful exhibition basketball franchise in the world, and have played over 26,000 games in 122 countries,” said Pearce’s coach at Purchase, Kyle Martin. “This is huge for the campus community, Purchase basketball, and terrific news for Max and his family.”

The world famous Harlem Globetrotters, which was founded in 1926, inked Pearce to a contract last month. The question for Pearce is, will his dog also join the team? Is his dog also called Max?

Indeed, man’s best friend can also be a very good teammate, and the German Shepherd sure knows how to pass.

Max attended the Chapel School in Bronxville and Tuckahoe High School.

The Globetrotters are coming to the County Center for two games New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31. For those of you who haven’t seen, or don’t even know what the Harlem Globetrotters are about, visit Harlemglobtrotters.com, and go to one of these Westchester dates. I’ll see you there.
