Westchester Board of Legislators Aids Domestic Violence Victims in Northern Westchester

Legislator Erika L. Pierce Presents $20,000 to New Dawn Family Resource Center

Westchester County Legislator Erika L. Pierce (D–Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Pound Ridge, Somers) presented $20,000 in County funding to New Dawn Family Resource Center to support its work aiding victims of domestic violence. Pierce delivered the ceremonial check last month on behalf of the Board of Legislators, which remains committed to making the County a safer place for all residents.

New Dawn Family Resource Center serves as a vital support hub for those facing domestic abuse, sexual assault, elder abuse, and human trafficking in the northern part of the County. The center’s goal is to ensure that the same services and resources available in lower Westchester are accessible to those in northern Westchester. The organization also works to provide support to members and organizations throughout surrounding communities.

New Dawn Family Resource Center received $20,000 in County funding for 2025. Through this financial assistance, the Board is able to support vulnerable community members who may be facing their most difficult life challenges. As an all-volunteer organization, New Dawn ensures that every dollar goes directly toward client support.

“As costs have continued to rise for everything, including food, survivors of domestic violence can find reestablishing their lives even more difficult,” said Legislator Pierce. “Supporting these families, especially as we approach the holiday and winter season, is critical. I am so grateful to New Dawn for the important work they do and the guidance and financial assistance they provide to survivors in northern Westchester.”

New Dawn’s Board President Lynn Borsellino said, “We are incredibly grateful to Legislator Erika Pierce for advocating for this generous $20,000 contribution to New Dawn. The Board of Legislators’ support directly strengthens our ability to help the clients we serve every day—families facing domestic violence, trauma, and overwhelming hardship. This funding allows us to continue providing critical resources, safety, and hope to those who need it most. We cannot thank Legislator Pierce enough for her commitment to our mission and to the well-being of our community.”
