Bee-Line Riders Encouraged To Prepare for Omny As the MTA Phases Out MetroCards

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced that MetroCard sales will officially end on Dec. 31, 2025, as the tap-and-go OMNY payment system becomes the primary fare payment method. In alignment with this transition, Westchester County’s Bee-Line Bus System will also adopt OMNY, with additional details to be shared in the coming months. MetroCards will remain an accepted fare payment into early 2026, as the transition to the OMNY system is fully implemented. In addition, cash payments will continue to be collected on Bee-Line.

The OMNY system allows riders to tap and pay directly using contactless credit and debit cards, digital wallets or OMNY cards. Customers who prefer to pay with cash can purchase and reload OMNY cards at retail locations, online, or at OMNY vending machines.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “The Bee-Line System is a vital transportation link for so many Westchester residents. As the MTA moves toward a modern, contactless fare system, we are committed to ensuring our Bee-Line riders have the information and resources they need to make this transition as smooth as possible. Tap-and-go technology is designed to make commuting easier, and we’re committed to helping our residents adapt to this new system.”

Deputy County Executive Richard Wishnie said: “The transition to OMNY is an important step in modernizing our public transportation system. Tap-and-go technology is simple and fast and provides greater flexibility for our residents and visitors. We will continue working closely with the MTA to ensure Bee-Line riders are well-informed and prepared for this change.”

Until Bee-Line accepts payments via the new system, OMNY fares cannot be recognized as valid transfers on Bee-Line. All Bee-Line passengers who regularly transfer to and from New York City Transit buses and subways should continue to use MetroCard until OMNY is officially introduced on the Bee-Line Bus System.

Details on when OMNY will be fully available on Bee-Line buses will be announced later this year. Riders are encouraged to stay informed by visiting [transportation.westchestergov.com]transportation.westchestergov.com for updates.
