Weight or Wait!

By Eric Wolf Schoen

If you are like me and grew up in Yonkers, chances are that as a high school student or an adult you visited Weight Watchers at Cross County Mall on the 2nd floor balcony. You had to walk up stairs to the balcony, . You picked up a copy of the then diet, got weighed on a scale, and then sat down to hear everyone’s story of how they gained their weight or lost their weight.

This was an emotional experience, the recitation of everyone’s story. Far fewer people told about how they ate healthy, nutritional food. Most talked about how they cheated with the A&P coffee cake or slices of pizza during the week, but there were a smattering of folks who got on the scale and did very well.

There was another program the name which escapes me where adults would go and tell their eating woes, and dad would prefer that one as he enjoyed the emotions expressed by the men and women and quite often by himself. Weight loss was a battle for him, and who knows, maybe it was Supportive when he listened to ofhers tell their dieting tales as tears would role down his eyes.

The Weight Watchers diet would change from caloric to low carb to a version

of the current hot diet on the market. Just look at some ones shopping cart at the A &P and you would tell if they were on Weight Watchers or one of the other popular diets. Weight WATCHERS always stressed that no pills were required.

But hark, after these many years and with all the new highly effective weight  loss pills on the market, this week Weight Watchers has gone to the pills. And you can order the pills and diet plan right on the phone.

No more meetings, no more shedding tears, no more daddy shedding tears while mom was looked on as the teary man’s wife and me his son. Give it 5 years and they will come up with a new diet!

40  Year old Airplanes?

Why is it in this great land we live in we fly the the Presidents in 40 year old,  airplanes? If his airplane is 40 years old imagine how old the planes the Vice President, his Cabinet membership and his advisors are. We build hundreds of planes every year for government use, and we fly the President in a 40 year old flying machine?

Do we take pride in the leader of this land ? Should he, whether it be Obama, Trump, Clinton, or Franklyn Roosevelt   be riding in a newer plane. This story reminds me of the rats Barbara Bush found while She was swimming in the White House pool. Isn’t there Something we can do to keep rats out of the President’s pool? Or do we not care?

I think we need to straighten out the priorities of this country. We should not have to have a Quatar or anywhere else donate to this country,

Take some time Mr. Trump. Let’s put some pride back in America! Lot of
