We Endorse: Ken Jenkins for Westchester County Executive:

As we look ahead to the November 4th election, one thing is clear. Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins has proven in a few short months that he has earned a full term. Jenkins, who was appointed to fill out former County Executive and Congressman George Latimer’s term, and then won a special election this year, is running for his own four-year term on November 4.

Despite political turmoil and gridlock in Washington DC and New York City, Ken has had a steady guiding hand for our county. He brings a results-oriented approach to the job and knows how to be an effective leader of county government.

As the affordability crisis continues, Ken has held the line on property taxes while investing in childcare. Ken has prioritized safety by fully funding our police, resulting in a double-digit drop in violent crime.

He has delivered infrastructure investments, including millions in flood mitigation funding, and reopened Playland for the 2025 season.

Westchester Democrats we spoke to appreciate Jenkins’ leadership in county government, his ability to seamlessly take over the job from Latimer, and his work ethic in campaigning across the county, in both Democratic and Republican towns and cities.

Jenkins’ opponent is republican Christine Sculti. Sculti has run for County Executive twice before, and this is by far her best campaign yet. She appeared in the League of Women Voters debate and held her own against Jenkins. Kudos to Sculti’s prep team for her first LWV forum.

She is also campaigning across Westchester, but staying closer to the Republican strongholds of Yorktown, Harrison, and Eastchester.

Our biggest complaint about Sculti’s campaign is not really her own fault. The republican party is basically busted in Westchester County with no funds coming in to run a serious, county-wide campaign.

Sculti has raised an embarrassing $22,000 in her last campaign filing.  You have to have a minimum amount of campaign cash to run a credible campaign, and Sculti and the County GOP don’t have that.

It’s actually a call to the 37% of Westchester voters who cast their vote for Trump in 2024, to buck up and help your local republican party-

One Democrat said that Jenkins was the most experienced candidate to run for County Executive, having served with Latimer for 7 years and now leading Westchester for almost 1 year.

” Ken brings people together,” said one Westchester Democrat. “He knows how to run a government, legislate, manage a budget, and manage people and issues.’

If there is one person most qualified to run Westchester County government, especially given what we may be facing from Trump in cuts, it’s Ken Jenkins.

Ken Jenkins is a strong advocate for Westchester County, and the results speak for themselves. We endorse Ken Jenkins for Westchester County Executive on November 4 and in early voting.
