Rising Media Group and Yonkerstimes.com endorse Congressman George Latimer for reelection in NY-16. Rep. Latimer is completing his first term in the House.
Latimer challenged former Congressman Jamaal Bowman in a contentious democratic primary two years ago, after being encouraged to challenge the incumbent by thousands of Westchester residents.
Latimer’s service to the people of Westchester is unmatched. He has served in the Assembly and State Senate, as County Executive, and now in Congress. Throughout his decades of public service—from the Westchester County Legislature to the New York State Capitol and Westchester County Executive—George Latimer has proven that government works best when leaders focus on results over rhetoric.
Latimer has stood up to President Trump on a variety of issues and has joined his Democratic colleagues in calling out the administration on budget cuts and the nonsense we hear and read every day.
As the national focus has turned to the congressional race in NY-17, Latimer has continued doing the work of the people.
Latimer now serves the people of Yonkers, parts of the Bronx, and lower- and mid-Westchester. He joins Westchester’s former Congressmembers Nita Lowey and Eliot Engel in that role.
Latimer serves as a steady hand in Congress who knows how to get things done.
Latimer’s opponent is republican Joseph Cinquemani, who has run an active campaign, but not enough in this district.
We endorse Congressman George Latimer for reelection.
